A popular corrida em Newcastle faz com que o internacional britânico de cross-country emerja novamente como vencedor, no momento em que o evento dá início ao nosso resumo de resultados no meio da semana.
BLAYDON RACE, Newcastle, Tyne & Wear, 9 de junho
Calum Johnson venceu sua quinta corrida consecutiva de Newcastle a Blaydon e o fez a 10 segundos de outro favorito do Nordeste da Inglaterra, Carl Avery, que liderou por pouco Chris Coulson na linha.
Programado para ser realizado em várias distâncias ao longo desse período, de 6,2 milhas em 2022 a 5,7 milhas, depois 5,9 milhas e 6 milhas este ano.
Nos últimos seis anos, Johnson venceu grandes eventos de cross-country, como o English National duas vezes e o Inter-Counties três vezes, além de receber uma série de grandes honras representativas, mas esta Blaydon Race que celebra a famosa música Blaydon Races está no calendário local desde 1991.
O vice-campeonato de Avery foi o sexto aqui desde 2017 e estreou na corrida em 2014.
Para as mulheres, foi Lydia Turner quem saiu na frente depois de uma disputa acirrada com Charlotte Dillon, que novamente ficou em segundo lugar aqui, em 31:42.
Turner, em sua primeira corrida do ano, estreou nesta famosa corrida, mas ficou em segundo lugar nos 5 km de Quayside aqui em 2025.
